Kid Zone

Welcome!

As the environmental education outreach coordinator for the 2011 Barrie Ecofest, it is my pleasure to invite you to the 2011 Barrie EcoFest, taking place this June 11th and 12th at Heritage Park on the waterfront in Barrie.

EcoFest Barrie is heavily focused upon youth, those aged 6 to 18, in an effort to encourage interaction and environmental learning. The goals of the youth fest are twofold: first, to provide a space for students to learn new skills and knowledge from our itinerary of workshops and certificate programmes; and secondly, to present their own environmental initiatives on stage so they can showcase the green efforts they have undertaken either individually or as a member of a club.

Attached, you will find an outline of the workshops we are offering as well as information outlining your capacity to partake as a presenter. I would be more than happy to discuss the possible involvement of you or your group with you and can be easily reached by email at ecofestbarrieyouth@gmail.com or phone at 905 506 1512.

Greenest regards,

Involvement opportunities:

A key theme of the 2011 Ecofest is that of youth engagement and involvement. Here are two ways your students, class or club can be involved:

  1. Volunteers
Every year, we are so grateful to our host of volunteers who help make this weekend possible! Many volunteer opportunities are currently available ranging from guest services, set-up and takedown helpers. Email ecofestbarrieyouth@gmail.com if you're interested!

  2. Present your act of green!
New! This year at the Ecofest we are happy to present the chance for students, environmental clubs and youth environmental 'heroes' from across the region space on our main stage to present their act of green. Did you plant a vegetable garden at your school? Participate in the annual river clean up day? Fundraise for solar panels for your school's roof? We want to hear about it!

Presentations can be diverse and engaging. Presentations will take place starting at 4:30pm on Saturday, June 11th.

Step 1:  Register your act of green with Kerrie at ecofestbarrieyouth@gmail.com
Step 2:  Reserve your slot on the main stage! Email Kerrie.
Step 3:  Rally forces! Make posters, visuals or any type of art form to display your act of green.
